Continuing on the same ranty lines - check this article out. The cable service I mentioned in the previous post uses the docsis 3.0 protocol.

    https://www.computerworld.com.au/article/664076/nbn-co-hits-gigabit-hfc-downloads-in-field-docsis-3-1-trial/

I have heard the docsis 3.1 symmetric gigE trials going on for about 18 months now. Seems like they have take it from the lab to the field - which is good.

The line I love in this article ..... "the company has no short-term plan to offer a gigabit HFC product".

I have a simple question for the NBN, at this point. Why not offer this service - once proven in the field - commercially ? If it does the job, and the demand is there - why not ? Residential and business. Let the market guide the service offerings, not NBN telling us punters "this is what you will get".

It is this kind of bofffin-oriented, non-commercial focus that TLS used to get caned for. Rightly so. The cardigan brigade has just moved over to a tax-payer funded gravy train, with bugger-all focus on the customer. Thanks for that.

Go well all, I will stop ranting now
