Oconnem, you're WRONG again!
Unlike Tony Abbott and John Howard, Gough Whitlam wasn't internally and eternally inconsistent!
Whitlam was the people's champion for delivering a fair go, for ending unfair discrimination, for stopping the war-mongering, for recognising our dependence on our Planet Earth and valuing the differences between peoples rather than holding prejudices against them. Whitlam devoted his life to opening up opportunities to all and to the construct of systems and processes that provide level playing fields.
It takes but one session of Parliament to realise that Tony Abbott's rotten government is not about any such things! Indeed, Abbott's much hidden ambition is for greater concentration of material wealth into ever fewer hands, to ever-greater repression of opportunity for mainstream Australians and to a return to his romanticised memories of Victorian England.
