One of the issues Gough Whitlam's government was ridiculed for was its unprecedented support for The Arts and Culture. It backed the NGA's purchase of Jackson Pollock's Blue Polls for $1.3 million.
Well that investment has just been revalued at almost four hundred times what was originally paid for it:
