Govts are obsessed with growth. It makes them look like they know what they are doing. Growth normally means debt and immigration. Its lazy economics backed up by a Ponzi housing scheme and cheap money. If we think of these things as tools in the toolbox, politicians are unskilled lazy twats who just lean in and do the same thing over and over again. It's called kicking the can down the road. These things are inflationary. This is why rates are strong and the cost of living is rising. We dont have enough housing, infrastructure, schooling or medical facilities to cope, but they keep the tap open. Election years are the worst years of all. That is when pollies forget about anything intelligent and just go for buying votes. We have a socialist govt (for those who are alseep). This means bigger govt, more regulation, higher taxes, higher energy prices, less productivity and higher salaries. They will promise the world and deliver higher energy prices and a lower standard of living. The world is full of these failed states, but for some reason we keep making mistakes. I guess it sounds good to get something for nothing, even when you dont. Nothing is for free. It would be good if we had an intelligent capable govt, but Australia does not have that. We live in the first world, so we can kick the can a long way down the road before something fails.
