"But as the Australian dream grows further out of reach for the next generation, an increasing number are opting to throw in the towel altogether to do just that.
“It’s such a huge expense that I’m never going to be able to afford,” said Perth fashion and travel blogger Monique Ceccato.
The 25-year-old, who rents in the Perth suburb of Highgate, said she was hoping house prices would come down. In the meantime, she travels. “I go abroad at least five times a year,” she said.
In the past few years Ms Ceccato has been to Mauritius, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Prague, Venice, Copenhagen, Phuket, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Bali.
“I would love to own a house, but I feel like I’ve got to be in a completely different financial position,” she said."
