I'd say that many Hamas or even Palestinians would not regard many Israeli jews as 'innocents' - certainly settlers or people of military age

go look at pictures from WW 1 in the fighting - you'll see the same rubble, the same standing with guns, the same hopelessness of people on the ground -
same same - WW1 to present Ukraine and Gaza and other parts in Israel where people are herded, contained, constrained ------------ you'll see exactly the same pictures from WW2 and Nazi handling of population as well

but, Russia the victim - is at the very same time bastardising Ukrainians and sending rockets into apartment buildings mutilating small children and old folk
