Not sure if the wind farms are a joke.
If you combine wind farms with say hydro as a base load power source.
When there is no wind just use the hydro power , when there is wind cut down on the hydro to save the water stored in the hydro lake.
Then One has to look at the over all MW hours per annum produced then for the CAPEX and environmental effects.
Although less efficient Can also use the wind farms electricity to pump water back up into a dam to use the dam as a battery .
