Looks like whoever is acquiring has set a limit in the low 40's. Smells like a fund or a big fish investor is letting the punters fold into their hands. If this was a real selloff, It wouldn't have the support that it does. My guess is at anytime, the stock will make a dramatic run back up.
IMO this is a strategy of tree shaking
