The contract is yet to be decided and clearly the Govt has no intention of doing any more than it is forced to in SA. Its preference is to have them built in Japan. Its clear the voters where told a number of times the subs would be built either wholly or centered around Adelaide.
I have no problem with Xenophon holding the Govt to account on its pre election promises.
I would agree with the former defense minister who said he wouldn't trust them to build a canoe. One of the tenders, German from memory can build the subs at the SA dock yards. Something along those lines would be worth consideration.
