A one strike policy for these types is certainly better than the risk of a second or third. You know as well as I do that the chances of rehabilitation
are next to zero, infact I would call them zero. A true burden to society forever. Another 50 may be created but going soft on crime generally, which
is what is happening, is certainly no deterrent for anybody. You do have an underlying premise which you have outlined rather well recently in that the
country has failed the mentally unwell for quite a while. State, federal both. Is this grounds for a stay of execution ? Probably so I soften my stance a little.
Was this kids actions a terrorist act ? Undoubtedly. If the priest had died, you wouldn't see charges of manslaughter that's for sure. Pre meditated
and unmedicated would be the two sides that your honour would be listening to.
