@Scott th Ratbag; many educators in public schools could see the issues now being highlighted by mainstream media in their nascent stages thirty and even forty years ago.
We could see: 1. Politicians were defunding public education - the sector that caters to the needs of almost all of Australia's battlers, our First Nations Peoples kids, kids with disabilities and special learning needs ... ALIENATING them. 2. Politicians and the mainstream media made public education less attractive to male teachers - often referring to males in education as overpaid, stalkers, sexual predators, paedophiles and even rapists. 3. Out of sight education systems mismanaged many of the real issues of teacher performance and behaviour - moving offenders to other schools and hiding the offences alleged of them, even from staff at their new locations. 4. Our politicians continue to denigrate the status of public school teachers, exacerbating student management issues and prompting teachers with alternative employment / business options to exit public schools. 5. The loss of so many male teachers to public schools raised many issues for young male students and their management. Female teachers were increasingly left to manage festering issues that increasingly required interventions with parents. 6. The increasing rate of failures in adult relationships and growing appeal of fleeting ones led to increases in single parent families - most often women left to raise young males with little support and exacerbated by the loss of male models in public schools.
Guess how pollies have responded as problems have festered and putrefied: a. They've further defunded public education. b. They've enabled taxpayer-funded 'private schools' to practice education apartheid - segregating kids based on wealth, religion, parental aspirations, ... c. They've closed down 'technical schools' which used to better cater for the 'hands-on' learning needs of many young males. d. They've terminated Kevin Rudd's 'Trade Training Centres' aimed at addressing the closure of 'technical schools'. e. They've grossly over-funded Australia's wealthiest taxpayer-funded 'private schools', transforming them into centres for white male supremacy. f. They've terminated research into what's wrong with Australia's education system - the last report dates to early 2013 [data extract below] .
