Sprintex (SIX) shares spiked 48 per cent on the news of a partnership with aerospace company Aeristech in a mutual bid to enter hydrogen energy and clean air markets.

The parties have signed an agreement on collaborative development, production and sales, under which the companies will work together to develop new hydrogen fuel cell compressor products featuring their respective intellectual property.

Sprintex described the expansion effort with the UK-based company as "transformative", with Sprintex' first fuel cell air compressor sales expected before the end of this calendar year.

Sprintex Managing Director Jay Upton said the collaboration would stimulate "exciting synergies" between the companies.

"Sprintex aims to offer the most competitive products to the surging electrification, hydrogen fuel cell and next-gen industrial compressor market," he said.

"Sprintex and Aeristech are confident that under this collaboration, both parties will accelerate the expansion of market coverage and the realisation of revenues leading to profits."

Sprintex is initially set to supply its 6 Kilowatt (kW), 10kW and 25kW eCompressors to Aeristech after an initial initial sample acceptance for US$110,000.

From there, Aeristech can order products for quantities from 100 to 10,000 units however there is no guarantee as to how much Aeristech may purchase.

Sprintex has scheduled its first production samples for 2021 to coincide with the opening of its production facility in China.

Sprintex (SIX) shares are trading in the green after announcing the launch of its new international subsidiary, Sprintex China.

The new establishment is set to act as a production and research and development hub for the company's operations in China and will be centred in a new 1500-square-metre facility in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.

According to SIX, the new facility provides for a production capacity of 50,000 units per annum of high-speed electric compressors, which the ASX-lister affirms are experiencing increased demand in clean emission transportation, clean energy and industrial applications.

In addition, Sprintex China has obtained a series of subsidies from the Chinese Government for its operations and clean energy profile, which includes three years of government-subsidised rent and a local tax exemption of up to 80 per cent.

More broadly, Sprintex maintains the development will open the market for its twin-screw compressor in China for automotive and industrial applications.

Sprintex Managing Director Jay Upton commented on the launch.

"The establishment of Sprintex China opens significant opportunities for Sprintex as it expands its product range internationally," he said.

"We've assembled a strong team and look forward to implementing our expansion strategies," he concluded.

SIX: SUPERCHARGER TECH WITH A NEW VISION

  • Sprintex (SIX) has a new lease on life, after refreshing its board, raising fresh capital and re-listing on the ASX
  • The decades-old business creates superchargers, which are essentially types of air compressors that helps boost a car engine's performance
  • Already SIX has created boosters for Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Mini, Toyota, Subaru and Scion, with plans to expand further
  • Additionally, the company has begun the process of creating a product for the emerging electric vehicle and hydrogen car markets
  • Sprintex believes its established presence in the supercharger market leaves it well placed to capitalise on this growing green wave

ASX-lister Sprintex (SIX) has started the year off with a bang, refreshing its board, raising a fresh round of capital and re-listing on the Australian Securities Exchange — all within a four-month period.

Since its securities entered back into quotation, the automotive engineering and manufacturing business has continued at a fast pace, launching a new range of superchargers and advancing the suite of other products it has in the pipeline.

With the company recently focussing on revitalisation, the supercharger technology which is at the heart of SIX’s operation is also in the process of being changed to better align with new hydrogen and electric vehicles (EV).

Armed with a strong balance sheet, a growing range of products and a new lease on life — Sprintex said its ready to become a leader in the world of superchargers.

Power up

Established way back in the 1970's, the then-U.K.-based, first iteration of Sprintex focused on designing and building twin screw supercharger technology.

The company's focus has remained mostly the same since then, which SIX said points to the superior design of its technology.

For those who aren't car buffs, the supercharger which SIX currently produces is essentially a type of air compressor that helps boost a car engine's performance.

The demand for superchargers has created a lucrative market, with a recent report by Markets and Markets estimating the sector's global market worth was US$7.26 billion in 2017 with a compound annual growth rate of 5.27 per cent.

For Sprintex, the key to its success to date has been how efficient its supercharger has been at boosting smaller engines, including anything with a capacity of 0.5 litres to 4.5 litres.

The company's patented twin-screw technology deviates from traditional industrial twin screw compressors  —which are synchronised by oil that is injected into the airstream to lubricate and seal the helical rotors.

In comparison, SIX’s superchargers are synchronised by a precision gear set and requires no oil injected to the airstream, making it a "clean air compressor", which the company said is able to deliver better fuel efficiency, increased performance as well as a reduction in emissions.

Diversified offering

The reduced emissions benefit, as well as the company’s move into the EV market, is a tantalising promise for car manufacturers, considering various governments across the globe have committed to reducing their emissions.

  • Sprintex (SIX) has revealed development of the Toyota Tacoma 3.5 V6 supercharger is now underway
  • The ASX lister is an automotive engineering, research, product development and manufacturing company
  • Its planning to adapt its Sprintex front entry S5-335 design supercharger to the Tacoma, a car which is rising in demand

  • SIX began trading on the ASX again earlier this month after carrying out a recapitalisation and shaking up its board

Sprintex (SIX) has revealed development of the Toyota Tacoma 3.5 V6 supercharger is now underway.

The ASX lister is an automotive engineering, research, product development and manufacturing company.

It's current focus is on designing and manufacturing superchargers which can be used in a wide variety of combustion engines.

Under this latest project, SIX is planning to adapt its Sprintex front entry S5-335 design supercharger to the Tacoma, a car which is rising in demand.

In particular, the car is proving popular in the U.S., Middle East and Asian markets, with over 1 million Tacoma 3.5 V6 models already on the road.

Sprintex explains its aiming to gain traction of Tacoma’s current vehicle production of around 250,000 units annually, a similar volume to U.S. production of the Jeep Wrangler which the company also offers a supercharger for.

SIX expects the total development of the Tacoma supercharger to cost around $500,000, a significant investment for the newly re-listed business.

The automotive parts manufacturer only began trading on the ASX again earlier this month, after carrying out a recapitalisation and shaking up its board.
