Your list of astute posters is way too long... I think you are very astute yourself and always a pleasure to read for your gracious, yet slightly self deprecating style . A nice juxtaposition to us more " emotional" posters.
I think you understand way more than you let on and as far as understanding gaps is concerned there are many brilliant explanations on google to the psychology of gaps and the ones that will need to be closed. Volume and supply I think is the key!
TA is not so hard to grasp. It is an art and a science with many permutations and that is why the TA guys here always qualify with "it's possible".
TA is about emotion and herd mentality . Understanding the other's and knowing your own, the latter being the hardest.
