Think that Fitnfam is probably the best placed of the general posters to this forum to answer your question as he has been following this matter very closely.
He, a few others and I discussed this matter on this forum last year, and from memory the consensus of opinion was that Stone would be "fairly screwed" if CRE ever became a private company, and that they (Stone) would cut a deal with FML before such an event took place.
As CW has pointed out other shareholders in CRE are now faced with a poisoned chalice in terms of who do they sell their shares to, and at what price?
There is a potential downside to what is going on, and that is that Stone (or one of its big brothers) might make a play for FML (may be not straight away, but at some time in the future).
My offering on this from a personal viewpoint only, and not from a member of the forum police.
