The presentation by Nick Woolf on Friday, April 13 has been noted for the 'totally nailed' comment in relation to the Pfizer collaboration. So, it seems like peptides can work as vaccines.

There was another comment which also caught my attention.

"We've got primary hits that are more effective, have better antibiotic activity than their marketed products [amoxicillin]," said Woolf.

The reference to primary hits refers to the peptide before it is subjected to engineering to improve its drug characteristics e.g. half life and stability. So, it seems like peptides can also work as antibiotics.

I wonder whether Woolf was providing some insight into the potential for the Medlmmune antibiotic discovery collaboration.
