    His policy includes:

    1. Cutting France’s nuclear energy share of total electricity output to 50 percent from 75 percent today.

    2. Close the Fessenheim nuclear power plant, finish construction of the Flamanville nuclear reactor and abandon construction of Penly nuclear reactor.

    *75 percent of France’s electricity is currently generated from nuclear power, a percentage that François Hollande would like to reduce to 50 percent by 2025. This change is part of his plan for what he calls “the energy transition”, which also includes an audit of every nuclear power plant in France and the subsequent closure of any plant that is found to pose a safety risk.
