I am visiting Nepal at present ... my first to a developing country.

I am now convinced that at home in Australia and probably every other developed, mature western economy, we complain and gripe about so many mundane things that we forget the big democratic picture.

Within reason we have a democratic political system and a pretty robust legal system, by world standards solid social infrastructure and established banking, commercial and tax systems ... all which we can rely on and all of which is basically now perpetuating.

Devloping nations by and large don't have the above frameworks established and working ... graft/corruption at government, authority, personal and business levels adds a minimum 20% to the cost of doing business and ultimately robs the people most in need.

Liberal/Labor/Greens/Whatever ... the matters of difference are minor and dare I say pretty inconsequential compared to the challenges of living and working in a developing country.

We have much to be grateful for and ANZAC Day is a good one to reflect on it imo.
