I work in mining. One of the things I don't think people recognize is how many of the professionals come from over east for 5 or so years with the express purpose of saving as much as they can and then getting out. The idea that Perth property, and Perth in general, is very expensive has penetrated very deeply into the psyche here. Even people with no idea about money etc are now aware of this. The best thing about the GFC is it's given people a fear of debt.
