There are certain guidelines that the ATO uses to gauge if you are an investor or a trader. Of course whether you are an investor or a trader will affect whether whether CGT applies to you.
This has been covered several times before in the past months. You can have two accounts, one for your investments, and the other for trading purposes, effectively you can be an investor and also a trader, but you need to keep accurate paper works for the two separate accounts.
