re: roberter Hi roberta, you dont need to be told how beautifull the place is the, my family has been there since the 1850S and my fondest memories are of visiting my grandparents dairy farm which was right on the river accross from the aboriginal home, which is 5 miles from smithtown, as a boy you would wake up and walk accross to the river and there would be a school of mullet 15 metres wide and stretching as far as the eye could see downstream, i can still remember those 3 ferries that grounded in trial bay and although im only 41 they are all but gone, spent many a night chasing big jew by soaking live baits at the jewbite at the enterance and fished smokey beach many times as well as drowning many prawns in front of the farm catching bream, when my grandparents moved thier from upriver in 1949 the mullet would keep them awake at night certain times of year, like horses running through water they said, and when the river flooded my pop said you could nearly walk accross the backs of big jewfish chopping into mullet, and do you remember the ferry at jerseyville before they built the bridge? and smithtown.
And how about the headlands around there, i dragged my wife around the headland near the jail 3 years ago and she nearly banned me from rockfishing when she saw what i do to catch fish. Anybody who wanted to see a truly beautifull part of this country couldnt do much better than to visit that area, it even smells good.
