This weekend Gillard puts some distance between herself, the HSU, Slipper and Thomson. After supporting them both for months she suddenly cuts them free.
Then today we see a police raid on the HSU and interception by police of her staffer's father. Its alleged he was attempting to remove documents from the HSU in defiance of the raid.
The AFP simultaneously announce an escalation of the criminal investigation into Slipper.
Is this rather strange timing or just a big coincidence?
