Sold to who? A foreign company? I think the FIRB will have something to say about that. Privatise it? No doubt the Libs will be hoping to do that but to get away with it the company will have to make a profit which is highly unlikely unless they raise the prices to a commercial level.

I am sure the technology is wonderful. And yes it will include wireless. But the FTTH aspect will be wound back drastically as that is the killer for installation costs.

Governments should stay out of telecoms except as regulator. The private sector would have built a competent network in metropolitan areas. And yes the bush would have been left behind as always.

But the real question that has never been answered is WILL THIS THING MAKE MONEY? Of course it wont which is why they never did a benefits/cost analysis on it.

The next government will toss this sacred cow on the bonfire like everything else.
