Anyone who puts their State ahead of their country is an unmitigated dill. And yes that included politicians.
I got just sick and tired of hearing the pollies in Vic.(over many decades), bleating about how we didn't get our share of the Federal Pie (and they are still doing it!). And I am now also getting sick and tired of people from WA (and Qld?)whinging and whining about not receveing what they perceive as their fair share of the fiscal pie
I have the same response to whingers from to WA and QLD and remnd them that:
Australia is a Federation and the Commonwealth money is, and has been, distributed according to a formula set down by our forebears known as Horizontal Fiscal Equalisation. For decades WA and Qld (for the purpose of this discussion I'll ignore Tassie and the NT)were the main beneficiaries of this agreement amongst the States.Now it's their turn to abide by this agreement and pay their rightfull share.
And for goodness sake stop whinging! Or pay back to the Eastern States, the flood of money that was given to you by the Feds over and above your entitlement over many decades.
