Some self-directed people will take a gamble and take a strong view on a particular share and this can pay of massively but you can ust as easily lose it all doing this. Very few people can get these calls right with any regularity, and it is certainly not what the rich people are generally doing - possibly how a very rare few got rich, but not what they are doing generally, especially if (for most) they intend on staying rich.
