re: Ann: Update on Mongolian Foreign Investme... in layman terms, it does not prohibit FDIs in Mongolia, except a majority stake by a foreign entity in a Mongolian resource-based company north of 49% (50% and above) will require Mong government's approval ... this pretty much rules out any Chinese involvement in Mongolia as the MONGs don't like the Chinese due to centuries of mistrust ... and Chalco's bid for SouthGobi is now dead ...
does it have any implication on AKM? probably a smidge, mind you the announcement was marked as not market sensitive ... no Chinese entities or entities with Chinese backing will be able to take over AKM ... Russians, Indians, even the Greeks however are welcome
company is dusting out the bad news on a day when the market is hammered ... the share price fell today mainly because of market weakness ... and the bots were trying to drive it down further with the release of this announcement late in the day ...
sad to see the value of this company being wiped out in this perfect storm ... but what can you do? market is telling the juniors that credit will be hard to get and projects will be put on hold in the event of an economic squeeze
the Mongolians have joined this party hosted by the Greeks ... and AKM is on the invite list
