It doesn't state that they recovered oil as they may not have done, but they did call it a reservoir. From pretty much every other oilee I have been in, if there was no hydrocarbons, they call them SANDS not RESERVOIRS, so I would suspect that they did log oil and gas but as you have pointed out the whole statement was pretty vague.

I think they will definately sidetrack the well, due to the reasons that you have mentioned specifically around UC1.
