I would much prefer to have the federal government's involvement in this, in some sort of a co-operative structure with private enterprises (local and foreign). Of course we will not see this happens with a coalition government, although I suspect the junior partner, the Nationals, might be tempted with the suggestion.
National food security is too important to be left solely to private business whose activities are based predominantly on the selfish profit motive which has no national loyalty.
