The buyback has bought low allowing the bought shares to be cancelled lowering the total shares on issue. The equivalent number of cancelled shares was subsequently to form part of issues to Oceanwide etc at prices higher than what the buyback paid for them.

Had not the cancelled shares parcels not formed part of the issues to Oceanwide etc there would be more shares in total than there are now. Had the buyback not been in operation there would be more money in kitty but a lot more shares on issue.

I would not be too concerned about buybacks though as Wayne has shown a great capacity to raise funds at a premium and remarkably in times of iliquidity in financial markets. We are in good hands. Not long now for the new buyback to kick in.
