"That's right: Wealth for Toil - not wealth for the taking by the Prime Minister as a socialist tax. It's been good enough for umpteen Australian Prime Ministers to accept this right - until now! What's changed? "
What's changed is they've blown their way through the massive surplus they inherited in record time - on fool schemes - and now they are looking around to get more money from wherever they can grab it - and then try to justify it after the fact.
The real problem at the heart of all this, IMO, is this country is suffering from a bloated and all-powerful bureaucracy that must be borne on the hunched backs of long suffering taxpayers. Three layers of govt (Federal, States and Councils) appointing themselves empires of ever increasing powers over our lives and costing us more and more. Over-regulated, yet under-serviced and not a whiff of accountability on offer.
