Today's profit revision suggests it might be time for Qantas to pull up stumps on its international arm.
Either the Federal Government comes to the party via a subsidy or greater protection for the national flag carrier or Qantas International should get wound down.
Closing Qantas International would release a huge amount of capital which could be put to far better use at Qantas domestic and Jetstar.
This profit revision is very dramatic and so late in the year. Some heads are going to roll.
