Surfrat, this is a service industry. Customers shouldn't have to hope that they get good service. Everyone who has ever worked in a service industry knows that you can never talk down the business in front of customers. If the same happened in a restaurant you wouldn't be surprised if people never went back... there is no difference in this case.

The fact that anyone can feel comfortable enough in their job to do something like that says a lot about the culture within the employees in general. Customers should not have to complain, one of this persons colleagues should have complained and the person stockplaya is referring to should have been immediately dismissed.

I don't know how you can say that Qantas staff shouldn't be seen as a bunch of whingers, there are plenty of Qantas staff who come onto this website to do nothing but whinge. How could investors or any objective person not start to think that Qantas staff are anything but a bunch of whingers.
