Let the Chinese take a 30% stake in Lynas and watch how fast Najib approves TOL. When TOL was approved I stated on this site it did not guarantee it would be operational and I was smashed by certain members of this site for that statement. Now here's the rub. Najib and the ruling party currently have the narrowest ruling majority on record. Najib see the Chinese vote as critical to his election success. The Chinese government don't want Lynas in production, it upsets their attempted monopoly of the REE market. They have told Najib in no uncertain terms that they will actively campaign against him and the ruling party in upcoming elections via the Chinese Malay population costing him power if he doesn't play ball. The PSC, public hearings etc they're all smoke screens. My gut feel TOL will never be operational. NC find another site, dismantle and move the plant. China is a far bigger fish and more influential than Lynas will ever be. This is my read of the situation but I do hope to God I am wrong.
