Seahunt, please stop posting. You make assertions about the performance and reliability of the unit with no facts to support your case. All this talk about the reliability of the cells being only worthwhile for 5 years and the capacity of the unit to only provide enough electricity for "one average house" is nonsense.
Go to the Newcastle trial information, and you see that the unit generates enough electricity for two average houses, especially when coupled with efficient appliances and lighting. The Bluegen will definitely not handle peak loads (ie. vacuum cleaner, 2000W electric heater or AC unit running in conjunction with the fridge and dishwasher) but when the house is ticking along (99% of the time) there is definitely a surplus. That's why having these units on properties not connected to the grid is a bad idea, because there will be brief periods where the property will be drawing 4-5 kW. It's not a silver bullet and has never been sold as such.
