It's a bit like watching tv & radio adverts for property in Oz, there are adverts out there warning people not to miss the next big run on house prices (despite alarm bells ringing on collapsing turnover with the banks slashing staff), get it now before you miss out forever kind of stuff, In my mind this type of scaremongering is inexcusabble & criminal and the very reason why some poor mug buys at the top of an overinflated bubble, our beloved ACCC are completely & utterly useless.
the politicians I guess are so guilty of misleading advertising that they have no moral ground to tackle the issue, All electoral promises should be enforceable with timelines at point of advertising, failure to achieve the target should lead to automatic dissolution & no effort at all to keep the promises should lead to imprisonment. If lying to the court or parliament is an offence then why isnt lying to the populus, after all the two former are merely representative of the populace.
Case in point, how many times has denticare been mooted by labor a major reason why K Rudd is pointless as a replacement for Julia (with an r), no need to even go near Abbotts record on what constitutes honesty. Much as I was repulsed by Howard, he was probably the most honest in recent times.
