Can think of a few gold mills where the crusher only runs 12 hours a day while the mill runs 24 hours a day with 95% availability, think NST is one as A surge bin filled by a wheeled loader is used to feed the mill which tends to reduce downtime from the mill being reliant on the crusher having high availability.

Had thought the fines stockpiling was mainly related to iron ore mills

Be interesting to know if the breakdown was maintenance related or a design problem. Agree I am an armchair critic, (but with some industry experience) not sure if that should take a negative undertone in meaning though
