I can't see any evidence of short covering in the chart. Short covering usually reveals itself as a wide-range candle on heavy volume.
If you're right about the amount of shorting in the stock (and I'm happy to accept that it is occurring), then the apparent recent accumulation is remarkable. It would seem that the shorting is playing into the hands of the accumulator - allowing them to accumulate without pushing the price up too far.
So if what I am seeing is an accurate picture of the behind- the-scenes, when (if) this does go "boom" a lot of shorters will be scrambling to cover their shorts - just making the move up even more explosive.
But, of course, I could be wrong about all this. And overseas events might play into the hands of the shorters.
Does anybody have accurate information on the recent level of shorting in the stock?
