Hi Martin,
For once you have posted an intelligent post and I gave you a T/U, you presented your arguments well and without too much emotion. There are a couple of comments that I would like to make regarding your post –
“Did you forget Longman's vicious attack on me last year? He got over 30 T/U's for the most vile attack I have ever seen on HC. That's "ripping into the contributors", and it is ganging up on contributors.”
I am not condoning what Longman may have said to you as I didn’t read his post but I would like to draw your attention to your post on the 28.09.2011 where you made slanderous comments about the management of OBJ, and where they didn’t have the right of reply. At least you had a right of reply with Longman. What all posters should remember is that this is an open Forum and our conduct should reflect this.
”That's a red herring. I am not saying researchers should leave or even that they should change. I'm just saying that claims about OBJ get out of control sometimes and that it is a good idea to have a balanced perspective regarding what counts as contribution. I have every right to say that”
Research is posted here based on the direction of where the poster believes the Company is heading and this research is open to debate by all including you, but if you are going to refute the research at least provide evidence to support your claims, in this way other posters can check out your claims to make a valid assessment.
and
“All I can say is I'm not a "true believer" in any stock. This is a stock, a company, a business. It's about money and facts, not belief.”
Then why invest at all, in investing there is a term that is consistently used “Due Diligence” this infers that you research a company, note I use the word ”Research”, from this you get your “facts” but in the case of OBJ where very little info is made available we try to ascertain the direction OBJ is going. In an earlier post I countered your argument
“I'm glad you're doing the research cos you might dig up something ”great”. But I am worried that you might be over-invested in OBJ. Also, I think the best investment of time would be on cracking OBJ's computer systems! (joking). I mean the odds are against finding something “big” due to the stated confidentiality.
My reply
“If abdm was to dig up something great & big how would you know ?, I would like to refer back to a post that abdm posted on the 09.06.2011, post #6812263
“The following information is from Procter & Gamble's "Collect & Develop" website, a site specifically created by P&G for attracting opportunities for initiating collaborative partnerships with other companies who own intellectual property & new innovative technologies.
Your reply from post #8195676
“There wasn't any proof at the time. It was a guess at a possible opportunity. When I said that I hoped abdm would dig up something great, I meant something definite, i.e. something that would warrant buying more shares immediately. I don't expect it, but I keep an eye on the threads in case something pops up.
Your logic Martin, is inconsistent with what you post, you wanted proof and abdm provided the proof from his research which proved correct and you then turned it around with “I meant something definite” how more definite do you require.
All you need to do is follow the dots and believe, IMO if you do not believe in the company that you are investing in, and if you do not do your own "Due Diligence" then you are bound to be disappointed with your investments.
“Watch out! I am a ruthless daytrader!”
“No, I don't "truly believe in the OBJ story". I prefer scientific language. The ASX is littered with failed stocks that have true believers.
“I'm getting frightened by the number of competitors researchers on these threads are finding!”
