Hi all. I'm a new holder.

It's unfortunate what has happened to USA's share price, but it's a sector (and market) wide phenomenon.

Although I feel for long term holders, from a selfish point of view it has allowed me to build a stake of 200,000 shares at under 9c in the past few days, something I would never have expected a few months back. I'll wait and see if there are further declines before buying some more.

I was talking today to an English physicist whose area of expertise is fusion and took the opportunity to ask him his views on the future of uranium. He was quite bullish in the medium and long term. He said before fusion is a viable technology there will be a huge increase in fission reactors and he doesn't believe that solar and other frequently touted renewable energy sources have any major role to play in baseload power generation in the forseeable future.

In fact he was scathing about most government backed solar panel schemes, saying that in the UK it requires more energy (exotic materials) to make the panels than they ever generate, and that taxpayers end up funding these schemes, rather than the schemes paying for themselves in energy created.

It's just one person's opinion, but it lifted my spirits after hearing nothing but negativity about nuclear for months, especially as I just bought into USA!

By the way, talking of alternative energy sources, I've followed the fortunes of Geodynamics and other geothermal stocks for a while now and going by their share prices geothermal is still a long way from being anything like what its supporters were touting a few years ago.

In a global recession energy is a sector that always gets badly hit. Now is a great countercyclical time to get exposure to a future boom sector in my opinion. I also think food/agriculture is a sector that will boom when the cycle turns, so phosphate is a commodity I am investing in. The patient investor can potentially get rich from the current environment if they can insulate themselves against the 'white noise' of doomsayers everywhere and keep the faith that the sky won't actually fall.
