What a load of nonsense.

If MOD can develop up a strongly economic resource, provide substantial economic benefit to the local and national economy whilst ALSO ensuring acceptably low environmental impact, THEN I would support a mine (contrary to your blustering misrepresentation).

I would not however support a mine where leachate management and tailings risks became an ongoing burden to the tax payer (as is still the case with some past mining in the Coramandel).

As for you distant ancestor, I couldn't care if he'd allegedly DISCOVERED!!!!!! Lasiters Reef. He certainly didn't leave you with any climatic impressions, did he? All sunshine and no rain eh?
