I actually work in the mining industry in north west Australia. Yes its hot, so I drink, but its cause I am thirsty and its not some arbitrary amount like 2 Liters, its however much I feel like drinking.
I completely agree that everyone should manage how much they drink on their own, that's why I disagree with blanket statements such as "you need 8 glasses a day" etc.
Drink when your thirsty.
