The Beach business is valuable and reliable. We know that further good news is on the way, from simple things like record production figures in various fields, to resource and reserve upgrades, realised higher volumes when the pipeline is commissioned, more results from the basin centered gas field and seismic from Tanzania.
And that is the next 9 months!
I am not a stock market expert, but I like to research my investments pretty thoroughly, and I am very confident that current investors in BPT are ahead of market sentiment.
The big funds and hot money traders don't have the opportunity to patiently research a stock, follow the businesses development, take advantage of depressed share prices to accumulate and ride the investment until the time is right to sell.
The smart ones know that BPT is poised to be significantly re-rated, but they would rather put their money in various other short term opportunities, figuring they will still have time to pile in to Beach.
You will see it the day before the big announcement or take-over when the price jumps 10% on massive volume and no news. It comes from whispers and guesses and then the big funds see the flow of money make a few calls and nobody "can talk" so they know it is time to pile in.
I'm not like that. I plod along, looking for a business that is well run, not on the front pages, not with controversial CEOs, but that has that guaranteed payday coming.
I'll be patient and I'll get 5 years of superannuation returns in 2 years. It's not startling, I don't get to post about my big game hunting, but it works. Then I'll start again.
Beach has that payday ahead, and I'll be there before the big guys (although, truth be told, I'll probably sell too early. I'm a great picker but a poor timer).
