    I can tell you that the statements made by Askin about it at the EGM became rather confused at that time. It was obvious that there were things he didn't want to say, and obvious that CP's lawyers wanted him to say something that would further their case. And from the looks I saw them pass each other at the time, they seemed to be pleased with what was said.

    I don't remember the exact wording, it was two weeks ago now, but there was a question asking if the 8.5 offer was better for the board because they were selling to perceived friendlies, rather than being the best offer for shareholders.

    It was at that stage of the meeting that Askin seemed to be most uncomfortable IMO.

    I *except* that Askin would argue that he did not believe that selling 10% to one shareholder - PNPL was in the best interest of the company; that it was better for the company to sell those shares to a range of investors. And certainly a lot of people will accept that argument.
