"I assume this is why Exergen have struck their deal with their JV partner in BM - coal quality not great, but rail to port in place will make a massive tick in the infrastructure box no doubt, which has always be the plan - BCE export project from BM, not feed for LV power stations."

I dont think Exergens move on BM has much to do with rail. Its more about what options they had remaining to demo their tech imo.

Its well known Exergen have LONG wanted to get into the MAIN GAME LV as JACKexCEO states below:

    05 Dec, 2011

“Exergen chief executive Jack Hamilton said...the company would be in a position to begin construction on a small scale demonstration plant in the Valley in the third quarter of 2012 - if it could secure access to a coal resource…

Mr Hamilton said Loy Yang Power Station would have sufficient coal reserves to spare, if a current mine extension application was approved.

“We’ve been in discussions on and off with Loy Yang, but haven’t been able to find a way to move forward; that doesn’t close the door as things progress,” he said.”

So even as recent as 7 months ago Tata/Exergen were still hoping/trying to snag LYP/AGL.

Does it make sense to you Kranky that Exergen would build 2 demo plants - one in LV 2012 AND then one in BM 2-4 years away?

Afterall the idea of a demo plant is to demonstrate the tech...THEN scaled up versions can be built elsewhere.

Logically - if Exergen got the nod for the demo in AGL/LYP to start "third quarter of 2012" - the demo proposed in BM would not be happening. True?

So it seems that Exergens 1st choice was always LV for the demo plant...and down the track consider a scaled up plant in BM if it made sense? BM was/is the "back-up" plan imo.

But for some reason they "haven’t been able to find a way to move forward" for years in the LV.

    WHY?

AGL/LYP desperately NEED a drying solution and Exergen have the HUGE partners to make it happen...so WHY have Exergen failed?

Whom does AGL/LYP have a long standing MoU with? Where are ARUP conducting stages 2&3 of the Coldry DFT?

    June 15 2012

"ECT is extremely pleased with the work done to date (ARUP/DFT). The outcomes continue to support Coldry’s commerciality and instill confidence in the timeframes set to deploy the first Commercial Demonstration plant at Loy Yang."

Despite having Exergen Director Dr Brockway on the AGL Advisory Board – how come ARUP/Coldry are kicking on at AGL/LV in an "accelerated" manner and Exergen are building 2-4 years down the track in BM?

Even the new Exergen CEO has stated a LV plant is 3-5 years away.

And some wonder why ESI's sp has moved from 0.5 Feb 13 (that speeding ticket Feb 22 is classic) ahead of the Feb 24 AGL 100% move?

Maybe the market sniffs which tech is the 1st mover re the Pilbara?

    tick tock...
