I have 2 friends who sail , one has an old wooden hull boat with more patches than I care to count, the other has a state of the art carbon fibre this and that.
The guy with the old wooden boat is a natural and just understands wind and currents and the like .
He will beat the other guy with the latest stuff every time.
He would be better off in better boat sure, but his ability more than makes up for his lack of the latest stuff. My point is that understanding markets is way more important than having the latest stuff. imo
