red, the Taliban get their money from the sale of opium. 95% of the worlds heroin is grown and sold as opium paste starting its life in the poppy fields throughout Afghanistan.
The farmers who grow it are not terrorists, they are just trying to make a living by growing crops, The farmers sell their opium to the Taliban and then they sell it at a higher price to someone else and so on and so forth..guess what currency the Taliban use..USD
The money made from all this is used to buy weapons and ammunition, i would thing about 90 percent of the weapons i seen and encountered were all being used from when the Russians left. The russions left so many anti-pers mines thousands of tons of explosives, RPG's and the list goes on, some of the stuff is ancient but still just as deadly.
So you can see its a difficult situation, we cant just burn all the opium crops otherwise the everyday villagers would hate us because they would not be able to make a living and feed their family some of them grow wheat and corn but the vast majority is Poppy's and marijuana.
