Isn't that because of the spiralling debt?
No point crowing about how good things are when the house has been mortgaged and eventually the credit limit will be reached and the debt will need to be reduced/repaid in addition to the massive interest bill.
CW recently posted a good analogy along those lines.
Labor will be hated for a long time over that debt, methinks.
