Smith is from WA so,theres no point going with him, save denying Rudd. The bottom line is, having knifed Rudd as opposed to rehabilitating,(if it was at all required) him was their collective downfall. (what would the NSW labor party know?)
The " dark horse" for a deputy should Rudd get re-elected is Combet.
Mr Combet said he remained a strong supporter of Ms Gillard but denied he was one of those ministers who would refuse to work for Mr Rudd if he took the leadership.
I dont think Crean is a goer, though I suspect that labor in Victoria know their under the pump.
Shorten I think ,if he has serious asperations, would be better off waiting for the outcome of the next election before making a play.
The difference between Rudd when deposed as apposed to gillard should she be deposed ,is given the short time before the next election, theres little to be gained in trying to white ant Rudd. Should Rudd be successful would he keep Swan? Should he keep Swan given the vitriol, that Swan dished out to him? He cant credibly go to the people with him,so its either Combet or Shorten for deputy for mind. The telling question is,having made one monumental blunder in getting rid of Rudd,do they compound it by not righting the wrong they created in the first place. While Prime Minister Rudd only met with Bob Brown once,is this what all the anti greens stuff is all about?
