Only so much you can do with the delays and general market confidence he's had to deal with.
I bet no one was sending him "thank you" emails when the price had gone from 6c to $3.40 post GFC ??
Funny how he gets all the credit when things are down though.....
He will let the ounces do the talking in the end, ie. add on so many that the market (and suitors) can no longer look away. Thats how you deliver ultimate value in this game. He knows that.
Sure ,some things could've been handled better . But i think much of that lands in other peoples "lap of responsibility". Wouldn't Mansel have been responsible for the corporate interest test ? Now that was a fools errand ... seriously , who was going to make a corporate deal in this market...... Run a corporate interest test after the FED fires off another QE round, thats when the big boys will be playing into strength and making decent offers.
