rabbitoh, i've been going to South West Rocks since i was 5 years old
My parents used to go up every year for holidays {from Sydney, where i grew up} I remember their golf course had oiled sand for the greens back when i was about 14 and a mad golfer
In later years {in my 30's} i started taking my wife and kids up for holidays too, and they loved it as much as me
So one day we decided to chuck it all in, sell the house and move up there to live and raise our kids
We bought 5 acres at Arakoon for $60k and owner built our little nirvana, with a rainforest adjoining and walk out the front gate up to a private beach What a life, my kids enjoyed their growing up years there so much
It's a little paradise, and i reckon the best little jewel of a spot on the Mid North Coast I live in Port Macquarie now and still visit SWR regularly
Used to work with an old bloke that used to have a dairy farm on the river at Kinchella, going back 25 to 30 years ago His name was Kevin Meehan, he was a real bushy, and a great bloke. I think they used to call him Lofty or Bushy.
As i said in an earlier post, anyone cruising past in the vicinity, take the time to visit South West Rocks and you won't be sorry, it's a little paradise and the fishing's pretty good too Doogs, there are a few turnoffs to SWR Between Kempsey and Clybucca, the one from Kempsey is a nice drive along the river and very scenic
The Country Club has great meals and entertainment For swimming, Horseshoe Bay {opposite the pub}and Trial Bay are both beautiful and very safe beaches, especially for the kids, and the duck pond at Little Bay is another great spot for the kids with wildlife all around
I could rave on about so many great spots in SWR
For anyone into Blackfishing, go down to the boat Marina where the trawlers are moored, cross the bridge and walk around to the breakwall on the other side, they used to bag heaps there.
