why won't they call them illegal immigrants, page-35

OK, so I want to hear some solutions to this issue. Anybody?

My suggestions were:

1: Contract mercenary pirates to eradicate the boat people. (not the most popular solution, but highly effective)

2: New arrivals must have strict conditions which forces them to work their ass off to gain clemency and possible entry to Australia. Minimum 5 year work plans, must speak English etc. I believe most of us would welcome a refugee as a friend or neighbour if they respected the Australian identity and paid their dues.

3: (new suggestion) Abandon Christmas Island all together. Turn it into a sanctuary filled with free roaming crocs and venomous snakes & creatures. If there are no officials, military or Australian personal on Christmas island then how can we be responsible for these people? Leave a few basic tools for them to survive such as fishing rods, machetes etc.

Does anyone think these boats are able to make the 2600 KM trip to mainland Australia? It would be a suicide mission, and a big deterant.

Either way, it would be nice if some of us put more energy into finding out solutions rather than venting out frustrations. I would vote option 3.
